Johnny Depp Might Have to Testify in a Murder Trial

In a move that seems more suitable for a Hollywood blockbuster based on a John Grisham novel, Johnny Depp has found himself in the middle of a very bizarre murder case in Los Angeles. Even worse, the actor was served as he walked the red carpet for his latest big screen adventure, Transcendence.

Depp received his subpoena this week as he helped to promote his newest movie at its premiere.It all has to do with a criminal case in which a limo driver is accused of mowing down a pedestrian in the Skid Row neighborhood of Downtown Los Angeles way back in 2009. Nancy Lekon allegedly dragged the victim for a mile after hitting her, resulting in the woman's death.

Lekon, who has pled not guilty by reason of insanity, has been charged with murder and will stand trial later this month.The public defender who is representing Lekon plans to prove she was insane at the time of the killing because she told police officers at the scene that she was in a relationship with Depp. She also told them she was in the sketchy area so she could meet up with the actor.

The lawyer apparently wants to call Johnny to the stand, to prove to the jury that his client is delusional.

Whether or not Johnny will actually make an appearance isn't clear yet, but it'll be an interesting day in court if he does.

Johnny Depp Gushes About Fiancee Amber Heard: She's "Very Good for Me"

It's clear that Johnny Depp can't get enough of his fiancee, Amber Heard.During a pre-taped interview with Today'sSavannah Guthrie set to air Friday, the notoriously-private actor couldn't help but to gush about his bride-to-be.

"She's a wonderful girl," the Lone Ranger star said. "She's sharp as a tack. A southern belle and sweet as can be, and very good for me."

The couple, who first met on the set of 2011's The Rum Diary, got engaged after Depp, 50, popped the question on Christmas Eve. A source previously told that Heard, 27, hesitated for a while before saying yes.

"Amber really took her time to make up her mind," a source close to the couple told us. "She turned him down before she said yes. So she waited and was thinking about it for a long time."

Despite the brief set back, Depp has been nothing thrilled about his upcoming nuptials, even going so far as to wearing an engagement ring of his own. Last month, the actor confirmed the engagement news at a Transcendence press junket in Beijing, China after he showed up onstage sporting diamond bling on thatring.

"The fact that I'm wearing a chick's ring on my finger is probably a dead giveaway. Not very subtle," he told the crowd.

Depp and Heard confirmed they were indeed an item in June 2012 shortly after the actor split from his longtime partner Vanessa Paradis, 41, after 14 years together. Prior to the relationship, Heard had been dating photographer Tasya van Ree for four years.

Private couple, private bash! Johnny Depp and fiancee Amber Heard finally celebrated their impending nuptials with an intimate engagement party in downtown Los Angeles on Friday, March 14.

Depp, 50, and Heard, 27, enjoyed a party at The Carondelet House, an insider tell. The stunning private brick house was created in 1928 as an Italian Villa to host special events.The former Rum Diary costars arrived an hour after guests, which included Marilyn Manson, Steven Tyler, Mandy Moore, Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and Rick Ruben.

The stunning bride-to-be wore a white silk spaghetti-strap "vintage dressy" ensemble for her big night, with her blonde locks down. Depp, meanwhile, went for a casual black suit and matching top hat. Heard's sister arrived with the couple, as well as Jack, Depp's 11-year-old son with his ex partner Vanessa Paradis.

Once inside The Carondelet House, the future spouses enjoyed a bite to eat and listened to oldies rock songs. The playlist included retro classics from the '60s through the '80s like "Wild Thing" by The Troggs, "Tutti Fruti" by Little Richard, "Jailhouse Rock" by Elvis, "These Boots Are Made For Walking" by Nancy Sinatra, and "We Got The Beat" by The Go-Go's.
