Paul Walker to Be Honored at the MTV Movie Awards

The MTV Movie Awards are known for being a fun awards show, however this year's ceremony will have a least one somber moment.
Paul Walker was a fixture at past awards, and the network has decided to honor his memory at this year’s event. There will be clips of his work, and his Fast co-star Jordana Brewster will take the stage to speak about him and introduce the package.
MTV president Stephen Friedman said that the tribute was fitting. “Paul Walker was a role model for the MTV audience since the very beginning of his too-short career. Our audience grew up with him, from Varsity Blues to the Furiousfranchise,” Friedman said. “He was a movie star but one that they could relate to.”
He added, “Paul’s humanity and kindness clearly showed through every role. We’re honored to be able to spend a moment in this year’s Movie Awards to celebrate him.”
MTV Movie Awards executive producer Garrett English told The AP: "Well, I think we are just really happy and honored that they were willing to allow us to celebrate him in some way on the show. And his family and friends were willing to have that happen.
"He's been such a big part of the channel, what the channel's audience has been about. He's been such a big part of our show in the past that it felt really right to us, and we're just really happy and honored that they were willing to allow us to do something for him on the show."

Images from One of Paul Walker's Final Films, 'Brick Mansions'

Relativity Media has just released some new pictures from the set of Brick Mansions, one of Paul Walker's final film roles. It's an English language remake of the French District 13 and both were co-written by Luc Besson.
In Brick Mansions, Walker plays a cop who goes undercover in a crime lord's inner circle. If it's anything like its source material (and these pictures indicate that it is), there will be some pretty intense fight sequences.

Paul Walker Car Crash Was Caused by Speed, Police Investigation Reveals

A new police report has revealed the cause of the fatal car crash that killed Paul Walker and his friend Roger Rodas.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's traffic collision experts have determined that the speed of the car, which was said to be between 80 and 93 mph, was the reason for the accident.
"Investigators determined the cause of the fatal solo-vehicle collision was unsafe speed for the roadway conditions," Commander Mike Parker explained.
"During the examination, it was determined that an aftermarket exhaust system had been installed which would have increased the engine's horsepower."
The California Highway Patrol's Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team conducted an exhaustive examination on the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT involved in the crash, including its history, safety recalls and repair records.
The Los Angeles Sheriff Department's investigators also consulted with experts from the Porsche and Michelin Corporations as part of their investigation.
There was also evidence that both Walker and Rodas wore seatbelts and that the airbags deployed for both the driver and the passenger.
"Toxicology tests on both men revealed that neither had used any alcohol or drugs," Parker added.
In December, the Los Angeles County coroner's office determined the official causes of death for the Walker and Rodas.
After conducting autopsies on both men, the office confirmed that Rodas, 38, died of multiple traumatic injuries. Walker, 40, died of the combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries.
The Fast and the Furious star and his longtime friend passed away on Nov. 30, 2013, shortly after the actor's charity event in Valencia, Calif.
The speed limit for the street that Rodas was driving on was 45 mph.

Thanks to CGI, Paul Walker Can Now Star in 'Fast & Furious' Films Forever, Despite His Death

In a massively creepy move, Universal Pictures has announced that Paul Walkerwill star in the upcoming Fast & Furious 7, despite having died in a car crash last November. Walker had not completed shooting his scenes for the film when he died and now Universal has cleared up how they will work around his untimely death: CGI.
According to the New York Daily News, Universal has hired lookalike actors to serve as body doubles and will use CGI and voice effects for his face and voice. "They have hired four actors with bodies very similar to Paul’s physique and they will be used for movement and as a base," the Daily News quotes a "source close to production" as saying. "Paul’s face and voice will be used on top using CGI."
Following Walker's death last year, shooting on Fast & Furious 7 was halted. In December it was announced that Walker would still star in the film and that it was being rewritten to include a farewell to Walker's character Brian O'Conner, using footage Walker had already shot. It was generally assumed that Walker's role in the seventh Fast & Furious, which has been delayed until April 2015, would be fairly small. But using body doubles and voice manipulation, Universal can do pretty much anything it likes with Walker and O'Conner.
Hopefully the studio will respect Walker's death and the tragic irony that he died in a car crash and not go overboard here. The Daily News' insider urges that the CGI option was the studio's first choice and that it "feels confident fans of the franchise will feel satisfied with the result." It would be a shame for the studio to use technology to fill in Walker's original role, rather than something smaller and more sensitive to his memory, and to the family he left behind.

Paul Walker Made One Touching Final Wish the Day He Died

Before acting and the fame and fortune that followed, Paul Walker’s biggest passion was simply being a father to his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow.
In fact, even when she wasn’t by his side, she was always close to his heart with her name tattooed on his arm: "She’s the best partner I ever had. We’re in all this together. So when it comes time to considering a project whether I’m going to do it or not, we sit down and pow wow and discuss it... she’s got to be on board,” he told ET Canada while on set for his thriller Brick Mansions last year.
But, it seems, the distance and his increasingly hectic work schedule was taking its toll, with the star asking his mom to care for her full-time the same day he perished in the fiery crash.
Just hours before he died, Paul made the painstaking decision that he had to give up looking after her, and asked the other most important woman in his life, his mother Cheryl, to quit her nursing job to become Meadow’s legal guardian.
The action star obviously trusted her wholeheartedly, and she agreed to what would end up being her son's final, and most important, wish of his life.
While Paul was traveling and filming just a few months before that fateful day on Nov. 30, Meadow was already living with her grandmother and being taken care of by nannies while Cheryl worked during the day.

Auction Site Selling Paul Walker Crash Memorabilia

The auction website selling off Paul Walker’s sunglasses to the highest bidder doesn’t want the public to think it’s profiting off his death.
That is, considering they were allegedly told the anonymous seller tried to give the belongings back to the late star's family to no avail.
“I felt like I should do something,” BidAmi.com acquisition specialist Kieta told for the planned charitable donation. “I didn’t want it to be morbid.”
Per the site’s description, a bystander at the scene of the crash Nov. 30 found a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses in the ivy and attempted to show an officer, but was apparently “waved off," so he wrapped them up and put them in his pocket. He only later found out they belonged to the Fast & Furious star.
And what about the actor’s family?
“He said he tried to contact them about the glasses and they weren’t really interested,” said Kieta, who refused to give her last name. “Whether or not he’s telling me the truth, I don’t know. He seemed sincere.”
We find it hard to believe Paul’s grieving parents and siblings wouldn’t want one of the last things left intact from that fateful day to belong with them.
The website states it plans to give a portion of the proceeds to savethemustangs.org, which because that organization doesn't actually exist is meant to read savingamericasmustangs.org, a foundation that protects wild horses. But Kieta admits if the public wants the funds to go another organization, like Paul’s own charity Reach Out Worldwide, she’ll oblige.
As for the seller, she says, he’s given no financial commitment which, if you ask us, isn’t surprising.
“Depending on how much is brought in, they’ll consider doing the same,” she said.
In other not-so-shocking news, the seller came to the auction site with hopes of banking big bucks.
“His expectations were high, like five figures high,” she revealed, estimating the sunglasses, fire extinguisher and other debris could fetch between $5,000 and $10,000. Right now, the bid is at just over $1,700.
But she wants us to know the consignor isn’t a bad guy: “He really wanted to do something good with this.”Sure. That’s why he’s gone unnamed and hasn’t pledged any money publicly.
Kieta admits she’s even had doubts about keeping the auction up on the site.
“I’m leaving it to the public. I’m asking the same questions. How are people feeling about it?“I think there’s been some time, I don’t know,” she added, revealing she’s not opposed to halting the bidding.
Bidding for the higher good is my mantra," she added. "With every tragedy we can make it something positive. I want it to be for good. It’s about honoring Paul and not dishonoring him.
